Terms of Service
Last updated: placeholder. This page is a draft outline for founder and attorney review. It is not a binding contract and is not in force until a final version is published and accepted.
The service
Sepia & Ink creates done-for-you family memoir books: interviews, writing, layout, and print fulfillment according to the package you purchase and the written project plan we agree with you.
Packages and payment
Current public packages are Book Finishing ($495), Milestone Book ($1,250), and Family Edition ($2,500), in US dollars. A signed service agreement and deposit schedule will govern each project. Prices on the website may change; your agreement locks the price for that project.
Milestone-date guarantee
When we lock a delivery date at kickoff, and you meet the interview and feedback windows in the project calendar, we guarantee delivery by that date. If we miss it for reasons within our control, you may cancel for a refund of fees paid for that book, or keep the project with no further fees for completion. Family delays reset the date. Force majeure (including print-partner or carrier failures outside our control) pauses the clock. Minimum runway: roughly 10 weeks for Milestone Book, 14 weeks for Family Edition, 6 weeks for Book Finishing when source material is complete — exact terms in the service agreement.
Client responsibilities
You agree to arrange interview access with the narrator, provide accurate contact information, upload photos and documents by the dates on the calendar, and return draft feedback within the agreed windows. You confirm you have the right to share photos and personal stories included in the book.
Intellectual property
Upon full payment, you own the finished book content created for your family for personal and gift use. We retain the right to use anonymized process descriptions for marketing; we will not publish your family's names, photos, or story excerpts without separate written permission.
Refunds
Cancel before the first interview: refund of fees paid minus a scheduling fee (amount TBD in the service agreement). After interviews begin: prorated refund against work completed. Guarantee-based refunds as described above.
Limitation of liability
Placeholder for attorney-drafted limitation, warranty disclaimer, and dispute-resolution clauses appropriate to the state of formation.
Governing law
Placeholder — expected to be the law of the state where Sepia & Ink is formed (Washington or Montana, pending founder decision).
