Family memoir books, done for you

Your parent's life story, finished and in your hands by their 80th.

One of our trained interviewers speaks with them by phone or video. We write, lay out, fact-check with your family, and deliver a printed hardcover by a date that matters — a birthday, anniversary, or reunion.

Nationwide. No travel required. No DIY chapter prompts.

How it works

Four steps from first call to a book on the shelf. You stay in the loop; we do the heavy lift.

1

Choose the milestone

Tell us whose story it is and the date it needs to arrive — an 80th birthday, a 50th anniversary, a family reunion.

2

We interview

A trained interviewer — a freelance professional experienced in oral history or journalism — meets your parent by phone or video over several sessions. Soft pacing. Photos and documents welcome.

3

We write & design

Chapters, captions, and layout. Your family reviews a draft and catches names, dates, and the stories that matter most.

4

Printed & delivered

A casewrap hardcover is printed and shipped to you — or gift-wrapped to the guest of honor — by the milestone date.

What's in the book

An heirloom you can hold — not a PDF of chat transcripts. Cream paper, serif type, space for the photographs that already live on the mantel.

Narrative chapters

A readable life story shaped from the interviews — childhood, work, love, the decades they want remembered — in polished prose, not raw Q&A.

Family photographs

Digital photos and scans you share via your private upload link, captioned and placed where the story needs them. Color or sepia treatment as you prefer.

Hardcover you can gift

Casewrap hardcover, typically about 100–150 pages. Extra copies available for siblings and grandchildren.

Sharing your photos

Every family gets a private upload link. Drop phone photos, scans, and documents there — we sort, caption, and place them in the book. No need to attach anything to email.

Private upload link

At kickoff you receive a secure folder link just for your project. Share it with siblings if you like. Upload from a phone or computer anytime during the project window.

We sort & caption

Our team reviews what you send, groups photos by chapter, and drafts captions for your family to confirm. You stay in control of what appears in print.

Optional mail-in scanning

Have a box of old prints? An optional add-on sends them to a professional scanning service that digitizes each print and returns the originals to you. Priced as a $129 add-on for a starter mail-in scan kit (quoted before you ship). Prints never come to a personal home address.

The milestone-date guarantee

If we miss the delivery date we locked with you, you don't pay for the book — or we finish it at no charge. The date only works when we start with enough runway.

How the date is set

At kickoff we agree on a delivery date and a project calendar. That date is the guarantee, provided:

  • We begin with at least 10 weeks before a Milestone Book delivery (14 weeks for Family Edition; 6 weeks for Book Finishing when source material is complete).
  • Interview sessions happen on the agreed schedule, and the family returns draft feedback within the windows we set (typically 7 days).
  • Photo and document uploads arrive by the dates on the calendar.

If family delays push the calendar past the original date, we reset the date together — the guarantee moves with it. Force majeure (print-partner outages, natural disasters, carrier failures outside our control) pauses the clock; we communicate immediately and still finish the book. Full terms appear in the service agreement after attorney review.

A sense of the page

Illustrative mockups — not a real client story. Final books use the family's own words and photographs.

Chapter three

The summer of the porch light

She remembered the screen door first — the way it slapped twice if you didn't catch it — and the moths that gathered under the yellow bulb every July evening in [Town].

Her father would sit with the radio low, and she would shell peas into a bowl on her lap, listening for the story that always started the same way…

Photographs

Caption placeholder. [Name] and [Name], [Year]. The family cottage on [Lake].

Real pages carry your family's scans — school portraits, wedding days, the snapshot that always lived on the mantel.

Questions families ask

Straight answers. If yours isn't here, reach out — we reply personally.

How long does a Milestone Book take?

Plan on about 10–14 weeks from kickoff to delivery for a Milestone Book, and about 14–18 weeks for a Family Edition. Book Finishing is often 4–8 weeks when the source answers and photos are already in hand. We won't lock a milestone date we can't hit.

Who conducts the interviews?

Trained freelance interviewers — professionals with experience in oral history or journalism — conduct the sessions by phone or video. They are matched to your project; the business owner does not personally conduct client interviews. The same interviewer usually stays with your family across sessions so the conversation feels continuous.

How do I send photos?

Each family gets a private upload link at kickoff. Drop phone photos, scans, and documents there from any device. We sort, caption, and place them. For boxes of old prints, an optional mail-in scanning add-on ($129 starter package) uses a professional scanning service that digitizes the prints and returns the originals to you — quoted before you ship. Prints are never sent to a personal home address. Extra hardcovers are $59; extra interview hours are $89.

Are interviews recorded? Who owns the recordings?

We record interviews only with clear consent from the person being interviewed (and from you as the client). Recordings are used solely to write the book accurately. We store them securely, share them only with the people working on your project, and delete them on request after the book is delivered — or keep an archive copy for you if you ask. We do not sell or train AI models on your family's recordings. Full privacy details are in our Privacy Policy.

What if my parent has memory issues?

We adapt. Sessions are shorter. We lean on siblings, spouses, and photo prompts. We never pressure someone to recall what isn't there. Some of the most moving books are co-told by the family around a parent who can no longer narrate every decade alone. Tell us the situation when you inquire; we'll say honestly whether a book still feels right.

Do you travel, or is everything remote?

Our interviewers meet families by phone or video, nationwide. That keeps the process gentle on your parent's schedule and keeps our pricing predictable. We do not require in-person visits.

How is this different from Keepsake, Storyworth, or Tell Mel?

Those tools ask your parent to answer prompts themselves (or generate text with AI). Our interviewers speak with them; we write the narrative, design the book, and print it — a finished heirloom, not another project on their to-do list. We also finish stalled DIY projects through Book Finishing.

What is your refund policy?

If we miss a locked milestone date under the guarantee terms above, you may cancel for a full refund of fees paid for that book, or keep the project and pay nothing further for completion. If you cancel before the first interview, we refund fees minus a modest scheduling fee. After interviews begin, refunds are prorated against work completed (interviews held, draft pages written). Exact terms appear in your service agreement.

Who prints and ships the book?

A professional print-on-demand partner prints each hardcover when the file is final and ships it to the address you choose. We do not keep inventory. You'll approve a digital proof before anything goes to press; we keep a house sample of our print format for quality checks.

Can siblings chip in, or buy extra copies later?

Yes. Many families split the package. Extra hardcovers are $59 each after the included copies. Families can also add a photo scanning package ($129) or an extra interview hour ($89).

What are your prices?

Regular prices are Book Finishing $595, Milestone Book $1,495, and Family Edition $2,750. Through February 28, 2027, our holiday offer is $495 / $1,250 / $2,500. Milestone and Family packages can be paid in 3 or 4 interest-free installments.
